Touring: Steel Train + their Twitwar shirts

Steel Train's Jack Antonoff and Evan Winiker may be feuding via Twitter, but that isn't going to stop the boys of Steel Train from going out on the road this fall.

The Twit-war began after the Jack and Evan disagreed on the quality of District 9; Jack thought the movie was over-rated and gross, while Evan felt it was funny and action-packed. This war has led not only led to some hilarious tweets from the two, but has even sparked a limited edition shirt set in which you can choose your side and proudly display a hash-tag outside of the virtual world.

I'd advise you check out the war for yourself before picking a side, but don't be surprised if these shirts spark segregation on the dance-floor of the shows.

The boys of Steel Train will be touring for the first time since the late-August release of Aim and Ignite, the full length debut from Jack's side project, fun., with former The Format singer Nate Ruess and Anathallo's Andrew Dost.

Steel Train and Sherwood will be the opening acts for co-headliners Hanson and Hellogoodbye on the Use Your Sole Tour.

In addition to a TOMS booth at each show, Hanson and Hellogoodbye will have a one mile walk before the show on each night of the tour. Proceeds from the walk will go towards benefitting AIDS and poverty in Africa.

Steel Train is currently working on finishing up their new album, which will be released in early 2010. The currently unnamed album will not be released on the bands previous label, however, as they left Drive-Thru Records in August of this year.

A personal message from Alyssa

Dear readers,

I would like to personally thank you all for reading. I apologize for the lack of postings, college is so time consuming!

For those of you who don't know, I am a DJ at my college's radio station, and I have the chance to listen to music for "consideration". Well, tonight is one of those nights. I am currently going through a stack of CDs that is MUCH too large to get through before the dreaded bed-time, but Kristine and I are trying.

See? I told you we had a lot to go through, and you can't even see all of the CDs in that picture. Before we began this, we went to Hastings (a music/book/movie chain for those of you who haven't heard of it) and I got a new copy of The Vines' Highly Evolved as well as a copy of The Ramones' self-titled debut album. Little known fact: The Ramones s/t is the beginning point to my love for music.

Again readers, I'm terribly sorry for my lack of posting but I promise I'm working on some stuff for you. Coming up in the next few weeks, a review for Fun., Modest Mouse, and some other music news/recommendations. I'm also trying to throw together a fall mix for those of you who are interested.
Make sure you're all following me on twitter if you have an account; I have a feed on the right side of the page, but you might want to follow me for more efficient viewing.

Sincerely,
Alyssa
